Below is a summary
of ITS Canada’s Committees, comprised of volunteers
who are dedicated towards making a difference for the Society
and for the ITS industry as a whole.

Architecture and Standards Committee
This
Committee oversees activities in Canada related to the promotion
and use of the ITS Architecture for Canada, and the development
and implementation of associated ITS standards (both on a
national and international level). The Committee’s scope
includes:
- identifying and undertaking services
to support promotion of and updates to the ITS Architecture
for Canada
- supporting the Education and
Training Committee in developing and delivering training
initiatives for the use of the ITS Architecture for Canada
at project and regional levels
- identifying and undertaking services
to support the development and implementation of ITS standards
at a national and international level.
Education
and Training Committee
The
scope of this Committee includes raising general awareness
of intelligent transport systems, planning ITS and ITS architecture
training courses, and overseeing scholarship awards, including
the review of scholarship applications and paper submissions
to select the recipients, ensuring award recipients meet eligibility
requirements, and notifying award recipients. The Committee
also represents ITS Canada at the TAC Education Council.
Annual Conference
Planning Committee
The
Annual Conference Planning Committees is responsible to ITS
Canada's Board of Directors for the Annual Conference, held
each year in a different location across Canada, including
identification of the host destinations, themes for the Annual
Conference programs and potential international speakers.
Annual
Conference Local Organizing Committee
The
Annual Conference Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is responsible
for the organization of the current year ITS Canada Annual
Conference and General Meeting, including determination of
the venue, solicitation of sponsors, recruitment of exhibitors
and local logistics for the Annual Conference. The LOC is
also responsible for the Conference program, including selection
of speakers and moderators.
Member
Services Committee
The
committee's main objective is to maximize services to all
members and, in doing so, is responsible to develop strategic
direction and policy with regard to member services, through
the following:
- work with the Executive Committee, Board
of Directors and staff to encourage membership retention
and expansion
- monitor member satisfaction and report
on these statistics to the Board
- monitor member services and benefits,
and identify new opportunities
- develop an annual action plan with
the associated budget for approval by the Executive Committee
- monitor the delivery
of elements of the action plan and budget, and report to
the Executive Committee
- provide direction and assign tasks
to staff as appropriate.
Export
Committee
The
scope of this committee includes facilitating and supporting
ITS export initiatives.
Promotions
Committee
The
scope of this committee is to promote ITS Canada.
Board of Directors 511 Committee
This
Committee is comprised of ITS Canada Board members and is
charged with establishing ITS Canada's position and future
role for the deployment of 511 for weather and traveller information
services.
Executive
Committee
The
Executive Committee oversees the day-to-day management of
the Society and assists the Chair in fulfilling the Society's
mandate, mission and objectives.
