Introduction
Commercial
goods movement between Canada and the United States plays
a vital role in the North American economy. The events of
September 11, 2001, have had a significant effect on
the efficient flow of goods. Both the U.S. and Canada have
clearly established security as a national priority, and there
are a number of initiatives underway. Technology has a significant
role to play in realizing ‘security and efficiency’
objectives, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are
an essential part of any such program.
This
forum brings stakeholders together to discuss issues, coordinate
programs, and establish areas of common interest. The workshop
will provide a forum for:
Information
exchange on current and planned products, systems, and projects
that involve the corridors, ports, and borders
Discussion
on additional projects that may assist border agencies, ports,
and authorities in their programs
Development
of input to the various initiatives underway or being considered
by various agencies both in Canada and the U.S.
