Rob Shirra named as Managing Director for ITS Canada

Mr. Michael De Santis, Chairman of ITS Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert G. Shirra, FCMC as Managing Director for ITS Canada, effective June 1, 2014.  Rob is an incisive technology leader with a reputation as a trusted advisor to executive clients. His areas of focus over his 30+ year IT career include strategic and business planning, enterprise architecture development, program and project management, strategic sourcing and supplier management, large scale technology and systems deployments, change management and training, and technology consulting.  Rob guides management and executives to understand and redefine their technology strategies and implement solutions using the most effective technologies and implementation approaches.

Among Rob’s unique qualifications are 21 years as President of RGS Consulting International Inc. serving clients in Canada and the U.S. During this period, he was focused on serving clients in the public transport, insurance, telecommunications, retail/distribution industries and government.  Rob has served the public transport industry through his involvement in the ISO Technical Committee 204, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). 

Rob builds productive relationships with both business and technology leaders. He has led the business transformation, enterprise architecture and enterprise investment initiatives for various clients where he has utilized his experience to deliver results drawing on relationships with key technology vendors, deep understanding of key business processes and by managing cross-functional teams on large-scale implementation projects. He is a strong team-builder and motivator who leads by example and so is a sought after mentor.

Rob has gained prominence throughout the IT and ITS professions and has been a frequent speaker at events such as the ITS World Congress and the ITS Canada/ITS America Annual Conferences.

In addition to holding Bachelor of Science degree (Computer Science and Economics, 1972), Rob is a Certified Management Consultant (www.cmc-canada.ca).  In 2008, Rob was awarded the prestigious Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of BC (FCMC), in recognition of his long service to the profession of management consulting.  Mr. Shirra is also a Director of the Westminster Savings Credit Union in New Westminster, BC.
