Mr. Claude Carette - Chair of the ITS WC 2017 to be held in Montréal

MR. CLAUDE CARETTE - CHAIR OF THE ITS WC 2017 TO BE HELD IN MONTREAL

Mr. Claude Carette will be the Chair of the ITS WC 2017 to be held in Montréeal from October 29 to November 2, 2017 in Montréal, Québec, Canada.

Claude Carette, a graduate of the École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1992, holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in transportation.

He began his career as an engineer at Roche-Deluc, an engineering consulting firm. In 1996, he moved on to the Agence métropolitaine de transport, a new Government of Quebec entity whose mission is to plan, promote and manage public transportation in the metropolitan area of Montreal. In 2001, Mr. Carette was promoted to Vice President of Équipements métropolitains. In 2008, he started working for the City of Montreal as Division Manager - Transportation Management. In August 2010, he became Director of the City's Transportation and in July 2014, he was appointed Director in charge of the Department of Infrastructure, Roads and Transportation.

During his career, Mr. Carette completed a graduate degree in project management at the Université du Québec à Montréal; he was a "Traffic Engineering" lecturer at McGill University, in addition to participating in various technical documents.

In the non-profit field, Mr. Carette has been actively involved in the Association Québécoise des transports (AQTr). After several years of engagement, he became President of the Board of the association for two consecutive terms, from 2006 to 2008.

Currently, Mr. Carette is President of the Association mondiale de la route –Quebec section (AIPCR) and occupies the role of Vice President on the Board of Directors of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC). To this list, we can add his role as an observer on the Bixi Board of Directors - Montreal, the Presidency of the 50th Congress of the AQTr in 2015 and finally, his title as the President of the ITS World Congress that will be held in Montreal in 2017.
