ITS Canada is pleased to formally announce a “Call for Nominations” for the 2016 ITS Canada 7th Annual National Awards Program! 

Nominations are to be submitted to ITS Canada by February 12, 2016. The Awards Program Nomination Package which includes a guide and all the necessary nominations forms is available at www.itscanada.ca/awards. 

ITS Canada’s 7th Annual Awards Program will be celebrated at a special ceremony and gala evening dinner being held in Plaza 1 of the Coast Plaza Hotel & Conference Center - Calgary at the 19th Annual Conference and Exhibition in Calgary, Alberta from May 1- 4, 2016.

The ITS Canada National Awards Program was created to specifically recognize Canadian ITS leaders, projects, programs and innovations that have contributed significantly to advancing ITS here in Canada. There are five award categories: 

1. Distinguished ITS Canada Member of the Year Award
2. ITS Project/Program Award: (Larger Metropolitan Area, Provincial, or Federal Application Category) 
3. ITS Project/Program Award: (Smaller Metropolitan Area or Rural Application Category)
4. New Canadian Commercial/Industry/Academic Technology Innovation/R&D Award
5. Young ITS Canada Leadership Award – NEW!

For this year’s awards program, ITS Canada is excited to encourage and bring increased awareness of the value of young professionals in the ITS industry (public, private and academia) across Canada by introducing this 5th award category, namely the “Young ITS Canada Leadership Award”. This award is designed to recognize one (or more) individual(s) who are under the age of 40, in their first five to fifteen years of their career, whose work is positively influencing the deployment and operation of ITS in Canada. This award will recognize their promotion of ITS to the broader public, leadership shown within their company/agency with demonstrated excellence in the area of ITS and has shown dedication to their local community.
