Our world is tapping into the benefits of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). From travel efficiencies and safety enhancements for the public and industry, to improved data, decision-making tools and service efficiencies for transportation departments – ITS transforms how we live and do business.

The Prairie Provinces offer a unique perspective for ITS delivery. With populations spread out across a network of rural and remote communities and important trade corridors connecting the region’s urban centres, ITS plays an important role in growing the regional economy and connecting citizens to the world.

- ITS are tools to modernize motor carrier enforcement processes and advance trade facilitation, reducing processing and permitting times.
- Urban centres in the Prairie Provinces have developed unique and innovating ITS service offerings that support efficiency and enable good decision-making
- ITS provides opportunities for governments to enable safe, efficient transport across all modes of transportation

An important theme to be addressed at the workshop is the important role technology plays in advancing efficient and safe transportation systems. In particular, autonomous and connected vehicles have the potential to transform our world. This workshop will bring stakeholders together to explore this topic.
