September 30th, 2019

The Advanced Traveller Information Systems (ATIS) technical committee under the leadership of Patrick Fitzhenry has provided members with opportunities to learn from each other and about emerging issues that matter to the ITS community.  As of October 1, 2019  Patrick will be handing over the reins of the chair position to Judy Yu who currently is the vice-chair of the committee.  In this transition Omar Choudhry will be joining as vice-chair.

Omar Choudhry P. Eng. is Project Lead for Transportation System Management at the City of Ottawa, where he focuses on new ITS technologies and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.  Omar has been developing and implementing technology solutions for over 20 years on projects across the United States and Canada.  He has worked in the areas of developing system architectures for state agencies, managing deployment of electronic collection systems, lead the development of ATIS and 511 systems for over 15 deployments across the United States.  He has also worked in the areas of data integration and interagency data exchange standards, human interface design and deployment of information systems.  Omar is also the technical liaison for the City to the operator of the L5 CAV test track, Invest Ottawa, the first integrated CAV test environment of its kind in North America.

Omar’s energy and commitment to innovation will no doubt be an asset to the future success of the committee and ITS Canada.  We look forward to reaching out to our members in 2020 to help drive the activities and develop meaningful outcomes that benefit our industry.

Chair, ITSC ATIS Technical Committee
