ITS Canada 2018 Student Essay Award Winners

ITS Canada is pleased to announce the winners for the 2018 Student Essay Award. This competition promotes the ITS skills and expertise of young researchers from the Canadian Academy. The 2018 competition allowed several students to share their views related to the general topic of the 2018 ACGM Mobility 2030; Bridging Innovation and a Green Future.  Submissions were received on themes such as DSRC, ITS in general, GHG, smart and green infrastructure.  Essays were reviewed and scored by an expert of judges and in the end the following students were awarded:

  1. Winner: Hamed Noori, UBC
    • “Are New Frequency Allocations the Next Step for DSRC?”
  2. Runner up: Farah Samouh, Ryerson University
    • ITS A blessing in disguise”
  3. Runner up: Laurent-David Beaulieu, Polytechnique Montréal
    • What if multimodal travel reduced our environmental footprint?”
  4. Runner up: Amrutha Varghese Purakkat, Ryerson University
    • “Smart and Green Infrastructure”

Essays served as an intersection between academia and real-world transportation issues; and submissions were adjudged to be of high-quality and relevant to ITS industry. ITS Canada congratulates all award recipients.
