Connekt/ITS Netherlands and ITS Canada announced today the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations that will foster the development and deployment of ITS technologies in both countries. The two nations share many common elements impacting the deployment of intelligent transportation technologies.
The MOU will permit exchanges of ITS professionals and information, educational and professional development initiatives, and the joint marketing and promotion of events in each country. Montreal, Canada has also been named the host of the 2017 ITS World Congress, and the organizations will work jointly to enhance Dutch participation to this prestigious event.
Nico Anten, Managing director of Connekt/ITS Netherlands, noted “we are pleased to announce the establishment of a formal MOU with ITS Canada. Through collaboration via ITS we can foster smart mobility in our cities. Together with ITS Canada we can improve the welfare and well-being in our societies.” Michael De Santis, Chair of ITS Canada, added “We face the same mobility challenges and ITS offers solutions that will address issues affecting the transportation of people and goods in a safe, efficient and sustainable manner. Through this MOU, we look forward to collaborating with our partner, Connekt/ITS Netherlands, to optimize the development and deployment of ITS.
The Canadian Minister of Industry, the Honourable James Moore, witnessed the signing between the two organizations at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2014, the Netherlands.
