During the recent ITS WC 2015 in Bordeaux, the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure received an award for the design and construction of the innovative British Columbia Regional Transportation Management Centre (BC-RTMC). The award was accepted on behalf of BC MoTI by Mr. Craig Hutton, Transport Canada and Mr. Scott Stewart, IBI Group. The RTMC is an example of innovation in both the partnerships and the technology used within the Province of British Columbia to accomplish three primary goals: improving incident management, creating a regional hub for data sharing, and the creation of a central emergency facility for stakeholders to coordinate and provide transportation-related information during an emergency event.
