We are excited to invite submissions for the ITS Canada-City of Toronto GTHA Summit Oct 2025 upcoming education/training sessions on Oct 16th. If you have expertise or insights to share, we welcome your proposal(s) on any of the following topics:
ITS and Accessibility |
?Explore how Intelligent Transportation Systems are being designed to enhance mobility for people with disabilities, seniors, and other underserved groups, ensuring equitable access to transportation through inclusive design and adaptive technologies. |
Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity |
This session highlights how equity-focused data and community engagement can guide ITS planning to ensure fair distribution of benefits and eliminate systemic transportation barriers. |
Technology Innovations |
?Gain insight into emerging technologies—from connected vehicle ecosystems to edge computing—that are reshaping real-time traffic management and commuter safety across urban environments. |
Communication Networks and Design | Delve into the critical role of modern communication infrastructure, including 5G, DSRC, and fiber networks, in enabling seamless V2X communications and resilient ITS architecture. |
ITS and Digital Transformation |
?Discover how AI, machine learning, and cloud platforms are transforming government traffic operations, enabling predictive analytics, automation, and smarter decision-making. |
Technology Supporting Transit Operations | Learn how real-time fleet tracking, automated passenger counting, and integrated fare systems are boosting efficiency, safety, and rider experience across public transit networks |
Innovations in Procurement
|
?Examine new procurement strategies, including agile contracting and outcomes-based approaches, to enable faster, more collaborative ITS implementation and innovation in the public sector. |
ITS Overview | This foundational session provides a comprehensive overview of Intelligent Transportation Systems, their core components, and their strategic role in managing congestion and improving urban mobility. |
Geospatial Advantages and the Power of Visualizations | Explore how GIS, digital twins, and real-time mapping tools enhance situational awareness, support demand forecasting, and communicate complex traffic patterns in an intuitive way. |
Live Modelling and Digital Twins | Dive into the power of live traffic simulation and digital twin technologies to model real-time traffic conditions, evaluate scenarios, and support data-driven decisions for congestion mitigation, safety interventions, and infrastructure planning across the GTHA. |
The Future of Traffic Signal Controllers - The Growing Separation between Hardware and Software |
Traffic signal controllers are increasingly being offered in a modular form, where the hardware chassis (the physical controller unit) is sold separately from the software (either local control software or centralized traffic management systems). This marks a significant shift in procurement and deployment models, largely driven by the need for flexibility, interoperability, and future-proofing in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This session will educate the audience how this market trend is evolving in North America. |
Please submit your proposal by July 25, 2025 using the form below. We look forward to your contributions and to building a dynamic and engaging learning experience together.
