Presenter bios:

  • Michael Schnuerle, Data Officer, Office of Civic Innovation in OPI, Mayor's Office, Louisville Metro Government

Michael Schnuerle has spent 14 years in civic tech, and 24 years working on internet projects. His first product was an online crime map built using open records requests and Google Maps in 2005, which grew into open data advocacy and building civic services around real-time transportation, public safety, geocoding, data standards, and APIs. As Louisville Metro's first data officer in the Mayor Greg Fischer's Office of Civic Innovation and Technology, he works with departments and external partners to share information, foster data-driven decision-making, and promote transparency through open data. His latest focus is collaboratively building common open source tools with other governments and partners through the Open Government Coalition.

  • Matthew Lee, Associate Vice President, ITS Operations, AECOM

Mr. Lee is currently serving as Associate Vice President of Intelligent Transportation Systems for AECOM. In this role, Mr. Lee provides management direction and technical expertise in the areas of control room operations, motorist assist services, ITS field maintenance, Transportation Management Center (TMC) studies, TMC training, project budget management, bridge/tunnel operations, performance measures and management, inter‐agency coordinating efforts, and emergency operations. Additionally, Mr. Lee oversees an industry think tank on TMC operations and best practices, serves as a USDOT representative for Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) and Regional Concepts of Transportation Operations (RCTO), and routinely participates as a technical speaker and/or contributor on TMC operations at national conferences and industry forums. Mr. Lee transitioned from the commercial aviation industry to Intelligent Transportation Systems in 2002. Formerly a Director of Ground Operations for AirTran Airways. Mr. Lee Graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Aerospace Science and is based out of Detroit Michigan.
