ITS CANADA 2015-2019 STRATEGIC PLAN
ITS Canada is proud to present its 2015-2019 Strategic Plan and Summary for our members and strategic partners. Over a year in the making, this plan reflects the rapidly evolving nature of the ITS landscape, the significant opportunity presented by the 2017 Montreal ITS World Congress and the realities of operating a member-based organization in challenging economic times.
The plan has been developed by our Board of Directors, assisted by our members and ITS industry experts who have provided valuable guidance and foresight, to attempt to predict how the world of ITS will change over the 5-year planning horizon. Significant changes in the traditional ITS sectors (traffic, transit, ports and borders) are anticipated as the result of impending technological changes from connected and automated vehicles. In addition, new ITS sectors, new mobility services, new market entrants and expanded roles for agencies, regulators and standards bodies all indicate that the ITS industry will be an interesting and vibrant market for many years to come.
You will notice, as you read this strategy, that we will continue to rely on our members and volunteers to provide guidance and support going forward. The growth and popularity of our Technical Committees is evident from the participation in recent webinars; more to come. The formation of a new Policy Committee signals a change in ITS Canada’s focus from primarily a technology association to one which is an advocate for the transportation industry and the innovation that will drive it forward into the future. The successful planning and execution of 2017 ITS World Congress will challenge ITS Canada to significantly ‘up its game’ and it will also require strong support from the members as planners, presenters, delegates and volunteers who will need to be ‘all in’ to ensure its success.
